Quick Trips to Escape the Heat

  |     |   Tips

Summer in a state like Arizona can mean that the heat feels unbearable, but there’s more than just natural beauty in taking a trip up north. Many locations above the Phoenix Metro Area can boast temperatures of 30 degrees cooler than the city, and a day-trip or weekend away is the best way to relax out of the overbearing sun.

Flagstaff

There’s much more to this city than the NAU college campus. Flagstaff is home to a number of different breweries and bars and historic hotels. In the wintertime, Snowbowl is a premier Arizonan destination for snow sports, but in the summer the mountainous terrain surrounding Flag is home to some fantastic views and amazing hiking trails.

Jerome

Jerome is an idyllic, historic mining town just northeast of Prescott Valley. Once a booming, industrious area, the town has shrunk to a mountainside hamlet of various art galleries and shops, with gorgeous views off the switchbacks.

Sedona

Sedona is known internationally as a beautiful, calming destination renowned for its red rock formations and jeep tours. Many come here to hike, appreciate the view, or engage in spiritual healing that the area is renowned for.
